GAM hires new executive director to lead the association to new initiatives
FARMINGTON HILLS--The Golf Association of Michigan (GAM) has hired a new Executive Director, David Graham. Graham took the leadership role in January. As a native of southeast Detroit, Graham knows the heritage that the GAM has held in Michigan golf. He brings a broad background in marketing, sales and management to lead the association into new territory and to help publicize the organization's initiatives and goals set forth by the Board of Governors. The GAM's leadership looks to Graham for fresh ideas for reinventing the organization and developing marketing strategies to enhance member benefits.
Graham most recently served Washington Oregon Wireless, a Sprint PCS Network Partner, in Portland, OR as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He was responsible for building their sales and led the recruitment of 60 professional associates in support of start-up commercial service in Southern Oregon and Central Washington. He developed a market launch strategy including promotional plans, advertising media plan, and the overall distribution strategy. In addition, he worked for Sprint PCS in Southfield as the Area Vice President of Detroit Field Operations, responsible for achieving sales, revenue, and customer retention goals in the Detroit and Toledo markets.
Graham also has broad experience in the computer industry where he has worked as Vice President of Solomon Software, Market Research Manager for Burroughs Corporation (UNISYS) and as a management consultant for information systems for Coopers and Lybrand (Price Waterhouse Coopers). With Michigan experiencing the fastest rate of new course openings in the country, Graham stated, "Michigan should be seen not just as the Great Lakes state but as the Great Golf state."
